Events

Crowd at a gigIf you enjoy live music you'll love Leicester's independent venue scene. Who knows when you might spot the next big thing! Acts such as Royal Blood, George Ezra and Frank Turner have all performed intimate shows in the city, and for the more established acts you couldn't be closer to the action. Yes, the O2 Academy is right here on campus and De Montfort Hall is just next door. Grab tickets for acts including The Courteeners, Paloma Faith, Shed Seven and Fontaines D.C.

Not just music, Leicester also has an incredible comedy scene. Every February Leicester Comedy Festival takes over the whole city with big name acts, comedy workshops, activities and more.

Coffee shops

Coffee on a table with a heart pattern in the foamLeicester is packed full of wonderful independent coffee shops, with many of them even roasting their own coffee in house. Whether you want a caffeine kick whilst you work on an assignment, or perhaps you're looking for a weekly meeting venue with friends, the city centre will leave you spoilt for choice. Highlights include The Coffee Counter and Leicester Coffee House, who you can watch roasting their own coffee in house, St Martin's Coffee who also offer a tasty breakfast and lunch menu, and Prana, one of Leicester's first 100% vegan coffee shops.

Various cakes

As a vegan I often used to struggle to find cafes and restaurant with much choice, but I've discovered so many new favourites in Leicester. KAI and Prana are my go to brunch and lunch places.
