Highlights

Whether you want to enjoy the city's sporting teams as a spectator, or get active in the community, Leicester is never short of options.

Leicester City Football Club

Leicester City King Power stadiumLeicester is home to 5000-1 Premier League Champions, Leicester City. Since defying all the odds to win the league in 2016 the club has become a firm fixture in the Premier League top 6 and they play their home games at King Power Stadium, just a short walk from our campus. Tickets sell out for most home games, but if you keep an eye on the website you can often grab tickets for cup games and evening games to see stars including Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Kasper Schmeichel. Top tip - book onto a tour of the King Power Stadium and see behind the scenes at the home of the Foxes. Tours cost just £10 and you’ll see the stadium through the eyes of the first team, visiting the changing rooms, TV studio and then taking the manager’s seat pitch side.

Leicester Tigers

Leicester Tigers Welford Road groundsJust a 5 minute walk from campus is the home of Premiership Rugby heavyweights, Leicester Tigers. England favourites Ellis Genge, George Ford and Dan Cole are just some of the names you’ll see on a match day at Welford Road as Tigers once again push for league and cup success. The club also offers special Young Adult ticket prices for under 25s and full time students so keep an eye on the Leicester Tigers website for the latest ticket availability. Following the success of the England women’s team, Leicester Tigers announced the launch of a new women’s and girls’ rugby programme at the start of the 2021/22 season.

Parkrun

Bunch of people on a park runMake it a regular Saturday morning date in your diary as Parkrun takes place every week on Victoria Park, adjacent to our campus. Parkrun is a free, weekly, community 5k event, which everyone is welcome to take part in. Registration is free and whether you walk, jog or run you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people and get fit in the great outdoors. Whilst enjoyment is the main aim, for those looking to improve on their running Parkrun also time you so you’re able to track your progress. Looking to meet new people? Each week the group grab a post-run coffee in the David Wilson Library on campus.

I've made so many friends through taking part in Parkrun every Saturday morning. Everyone is so friendly and there's no pressure on you to keep up, just to enjoy it at your own pace.
