Boost for international student support

Navitas CEO Scott Jones and Vice-Chancellor Professor Nishan Canagarajah formally open the University of Leicester Global Study Centre.

The University of Leicester has launched a new partnership with Navitas aimed at strengthening the support for international students who want to study here.

Staff, students and city representatives gathered at the new University of Leicester Global Study Centre to celebrate the new partnership.

The Global Study Centre provides international students with tailored pathways into a wide range of undergraduate degree programmes, while giving them a real introduction to the University of Leicester student experience.

The new partnership with Navitas will allow us to attract a greater number and variety of students from around the world to access the skills and the expertise needed to study at Leicester.

At the event, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Nishan Canagarajah said: “The University of Leicester is a truly global University, so making a partnership like this is a natural thing to do. A University creates knowledge, and as Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world.”

“Education does not have geographic boundaries and our partnership with Navitas will allow us to reach out to prospective students across the world and bring them a Leicester education.”

Scott Jones, the CEO of Navitas also spoke at the event, saying: “This is an exciting opportunity to partner with such a wonderful university. Navitas has a commitment to transform lives through education. This is just one of our partnerships in 38 countries and we’re committed to creating the best experience for students and help them settle into life at Leicester.”

Based within easy walking distance of the University of Leicester campus, the Global Study Centre helps students coming to the university to develop their language skills alongside the skills they need to undertake a full degree.

The small classes and introductory subjects allow students to build their confidence and encourage their integration into university life.
