Leicester passes 5 million readers milestone on The Conversation
Academics from across our University have collectively captured the imagination of over 5 million readers through nearly 250 articles written for The Conversation - setting a new milestone for Leicester in delivering expert opinion in response to topical news.
Recent articles published by Leicester academics cover a range of research areas, including: how our discovery of Julius Caesar’s first landing point in Britain could change history, CHIP – an important risk factor for heart attack you’ve probably never heard of, how we can use colour to communicate how we feel, and many more.
The article published by Leicester academics which pushed the total number of readers over the 5 million mark was written by Dr Natasha Whiteman from our School of Media, Communication and Sociology and discusses Facebook data and why ethical reviews matter in academic research.
With a growing community of more than 65,500 academics and researchers from 2,298 institutions, The Conversation is encouraging Leicester academics interested in raising their media profile to become an author and pitch article ideas based on individual research expertise.
Experts are also regularly contributing opinion pieces to the University's Think: Leicester platform, which provides academics and doctoral students with an opportunity to present their independent views on topical news and republishes articles written for The Conversation. Recent highlights have included a number of articles about the policies of Donald Trump and insights into Brexit and the future of the UK.
