What is close contact?

See the Government definition of a close ‘contact’. Please familiarise yourself with this before having any conversations with staff. Advice and support can be sought from Occupational Health or Staff Health and Wellbeing if you are unsure.  

Please ensure that you inform any member of staff who reports to you that they have tested positive or are symptomatic NOT to attend any university campuses and to complete the online reporting form and self-isolate as per Government guidance.  

If they are already on campus tell them to go home immediately or if they have been on campus in the previous 48 hours (2 days) and they were symptomatic or anytime up to 10 days from onset of symptoms then you will need to inform those colleagues whom they have been in close contact with as per example 1 and 2 below. 

It is key to establish from the member of staff who they have been in close contact with as per the Government guidance on contact.

If a member of staff has tested positive and has been on campus but they have not been in close contact with any colleagues, or were not symptomatic when on campus then please see example 3
