Undergraduates
Accommodation
We offer a wide range of student accommodation. You are guaranteed University accommodation (if you want it) provided you apply for your accommodation by 1 September.
All our accommodation is self-catered, with a choice of more traditional style halls or private studio flats. Bathrooms can be shared or ensuite depending on your choice. The University accommodation is split between two sites: The Village which is a short bus ride away from campus, and The City which is walking distance from campus.
The Village is exclusively reserved for undergraduates so most of the residents are fresh from school. As a mature student you might prefer to consider The City where many of your neighbours will be older postgraduates.
Alternatively, the Students’ Union have an accommodation office to help with finding privately rented student accommodation. SULETS offers a fair and transparent service to all students, and there are no agency, registration or reservation fees to pay.
Travel
The University of Leicester has excellent transport links and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. As such there is no parking for students on campus. However, there are public transport options and good provision for cyclists on campus.
Our University Shuttle Bus runs from the University to The Village accommodation every 15 minutes during term time. Access to the bus service is free for all students staying in The Village. Leicester also has many public bus links for travelling around the city at a reasonable price.
The University Campus is a 15-minute walk from the railway station and 20-minute walk from the City Centre.
The University also has an underground bike park and is on a number of cycle routes.
