Course description

The MSc Management, Finance and Accounting will provide you with a thorough understanding of the role of accounting and finance in organisational management.  You will acquire the specialist knowledge and skills to deal with complex accounting and finance issues and handle them effectively in a range of management contexts.

The course features a combination of modules which allow you to focus on areas of interest that relate to your professional needs.  You will develop an understanding of the main theories, models, frameworks, and techniques of management.  You will also learn the main data analysis techniques needed to take informed decisions in modern corporations.  You will be provided with a stimulating and intellectually challenging learning experience, along with rigorous teaching in the concepts of financial management and accounting and general management tools and techniques.

As well as specific knowledge of financial management and accounting, this degree will develop your ability to analyse and evaluate management problems and make sound strategic decisions.  It will also develop your practical transferable skills including the ability to conduct independent research , both online and offline; time management, verbal and written communication, presenting and planning.

The course will prepare you for management level accounting and finance careers in public or private sector organisations, or an academic career in this area.

 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

  • Good UK honours degree or its equivalent, or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution, or a relevant graduate level professional qualification.
  • Or a demonstration of considerable relevant practical experience and evidence of the ability to cope with the demands of the course.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

If you are resident outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, you will need to pay a deposit of £3,000 to secure your place. This will be subtracted from your total tuition fee.

Teaching and learning

You will be taught through a mixture of methods, including seminars, lectures, group work, case study analysis and guided reading. You will be assigned a personal tutor who has a pastoral role and can offer support and advice.

Your work will be assessed through assignments and examinations, plus a dissertation.
